Where is Sydney Soap Making?
Sydney Soap Making courses are held in a private residence on Cabbage Tree Road, Bayview, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Who runs the classes?
Nicki Remington and Cheryl Emmett have been making cold pressed soaps and natural bath and body products together since 2006. Both are experienced soap makers and have developed their own collection of soap and luxury body products under the brand Remington & Emmett. They have been teaching others their secrets since 2010 and have had hundreds of students pass through their workshops.
How many people are the classes?
Because the classes are so hands-on, numbers are kept to a minimum with no more than 14 to a workshop. This means there’s ample room to move around safely and plenty of opportunity for questions, discussions and demonstrations.
How do I get there?
There is easy street parking on Cabbage Tree Road. Check buses.

I’ve heard dangerous chemicals are used in soap making. What’s the risk to me?
Soap making requires the use of lye, or caustic soda, which can be dangerous if not handled correctly, as well as hot oils. Risks include burns and the affects of fumes, which we minimise through protective clothing and equipment, and supervise you closely when you are handling these products. If you have concerns, you are welcome to sit out and watch instructors can complete those steps for you.
Essential Oils and Pregnancy
In a dilution of 2% virtually all essential oils are safe with the exception of Pennyroyal and Sage (not Clary Sage).
Some other oils which could pose a problem during pregnancy in large dilutions are: Angelica, Carrot, Cumin, Parsley and Juniper.
Essential oils when combined with organic plant oils can have a very beneficial effect on the skin; both nourishing, regenerating, strengthening and hydrating skin that is progressively stretching.
Is the course suitable for children?
Unfortunately, due to the use of hot oils and the other risks above, children are unable to participate in or attend any course. Young adults over the age of 16 are welcome to attend if accompanied by a participating adult.
Course Cancellation Policy
Courses are transferrable. If you are unable to attend, someone else may attend in your place, or you can transfer to another course date (if available).
If you are unable to attend, Sydney Soap Making require at least seven days’ notice as we need to fill your spot and there is much preparation on our part. Thank you for your understanding.
